[Robert E. B. Baylor]
May 10, 1793 - January 6, 1874
Lawyer, Democrat congressman, district judge and ordained Baptist minister, Robert Emmett Bledsoe Baylor was one of the founders of Baylor University at Independence, Texas (now located at Waco), and Baylor Female College at Belton, Texas in 1845. He served as one of the first faculty members at the School of Law when it opened in 1857, continuing to teach classes until his death in 1873.
