[John J.C. Abbott]
March 12, 1821 - October 30, 1893
Lawyer and Dean of Law at McGill University, John Joseph Caldwell Abbott was elected as Conservative MP in 1857 and appointed to the Senate in 1887. On June 13, 1891 he was chosen as caretaker Prime Minister following the death of Sir John A. MacDonald. He received a knighthood in 1892.
