MASONIC BIOGRAPHIES
FAMOUS FREEMASONS
Sir Christopher Wren
John Aubrey, a founder member of the Royal Society, wrote an unpublished history of Wiltshire in 1685. When the Royal Society ordered their clerk, B. G. Cramer, to produce a copy, Aubrey made many additions and emendations and he oversaw their inclusion into the new text. John Aubrey was a close friend of Sir Christopher Wren. As a founder member and President of the Royal Society from 1680-2, Wren was still active in 1691, the date of Cramer’s copy. The first note was written by Aubrey on May 18, 1691 and the second was Cramer’s copy made later that year.
