Benjamin Franklin Gates, played by Nicholas Cage, descends from a family of treasure-seekers who've all hunted for the same thing: a treasure hidden by the American founding fathers. This movie is yet another fictional attempt to link the freemasons, the Knights Templar and the founding of the USA.
In this image, a Knights Templar ship’s captain is holding a medallion with the all-seeing eye of Providence and an incomplete pyramid of eleven steps, rather than the thirteen found on the USA seal reverse. Although such masonic symbols as the square and compasses, open book and hourglass are depicted, the use of six stars rather than seven is noteworthy, as is the anachronistic depiction of the square and compasses with the two points of the compasses above the square. There is no historical justification in linking any of these symbols to the Templars.

Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, Sean Bean, Diane Kruger, Harvey Keitel, Christopher Plummer, Jon Voight. Directed by Jon Turteltaub, written by Ted Elliott, E. Max Frye. USA, English. Colour, Stereo. 131 min (Adventure). Movie trailer found at bvim-qt.vitalstream.com
