GRAND MASTER, 1995-1996
[Clark Gilmour]
Betty Wallace Painting, 1996
July 31, 1925 - December 21, 2010
The majority of MW Bro. Clark Murray Gilmour's career was spent in the field of mediation, retiring in 1987 from his position as the Director of Mediation for the Province of British Columbia. During that time he helped settle a number of significant labour disputes. Clark will also be remembered for his significant contributions to the community including many years of involvement as a coach and referee in B.C. minor football
Grand Master of British Columbia and Yukon during our 125th year, MW Bro. Gilmour believed in building bridges, leading our jurisdiction to mutual recognition with the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Prince Hall Freemasons of Washington State in 1996 and leading us in public procession on three occasions: to Vancouver's Beth Israel Synagogue and Saint Andrew's-Wesley Church, and in the Pacific National Exhibition annual parade.
He served this jurisdiction as a Deputy District Grand Master for 1990-1991, chairman of the Cancer Car Project from 1991 to 1995, chairman of the public relations committee for 1993-1994 and was a member of the finance committee for 1991-1994.
Reflecting the theme for his year as Grand Master, "recognition and support for the masonic family", he was one time Associate Guardian of Bethel No. 1, Job's Daughters, and also Chapter Dad, District Deputy, and Lower Mainland Governor of the Order of DeMolay, receiving both the Cross of Honour and the Honourary Legion of Honour.
