While doing a reasonable job of introducing one stream of western esoteric thought, this video fails to fully distinguish between the many streamspresenting a barrage of images from sources as diverse as nineteenth century satanism, fourteenth century hermeticism, sixteenth century rosicrucianism, Kabbalah, alchemy, astrology and popular images of broomstick riding.
There are two notable errors. First, the authors cite as fact the unproven assertion that in 1307 the Knights Templar possessed both a treasure and a fleet to move it. Second, the authors erroneously claim:
"The modern day revival of the old religion can be traced back to 1888. A collective of senior masons founded the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a society dedicated to discovering the wisdom of the ancients."
True in part, the three founders were by no means "senior masons".
Dr. W. Wynn Westcott, coroner for North East London, had twice been Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge but never held Grand Lodge rank. Dr. W. R. Woodman was a police surgeon who had held no office or Grand Lodge rank; and S. L. MacGregor Mathers was a freemason for five years in his mid-twenties, and held no office in that short time.
Unfortunately the expression "senior masons" implies complicity on the part of Freemasonry.
