Stock broker and antiquarian bookseller, Frederick Gardner wrote a three volume bibliography entitled Catalogue Raisonne of works on the Occult Sciences in 1912. Volume 3 was a catalogue of English lodge histories. A freemason, he joined the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (HOGD) on March 20, 1894. According to Westcott, he was also editor of Bibliotheca Rosicruciana for the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia. Appointed Secretary-General of the S.R.I.A. on October 11, 1900, he served until October 14, 1904.
Not to be confused with Gerald Gardner (1884-1964), founder of the modern Wiccan movement.
