Will Durant
The Life of Greece (1939)

Excerpt referencing Freemasonry.
Citing Manly P. Hall's Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic, and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy (San Francisco, 1928, p. 64.), Durant makes the unsubstantiated claim: "The sculptors and architects of Greece formed a guild of builders with their own religious mysteries, and became the forerunners of the Freemasons of later Europe."
