Unidentified gameshow contestant and comedian, Paul Lynde.
Hollywood Squares (c. 1970)
In this undated episode of the long-running television gameshow, comedian Paul Lynde makes a joke about the unusual names for Scottish Rite office holders. The host, Peter Marshall, mistakenly equates the Freemasons with the fictional fraternity, Mystic Knights of the Sea, while also complimenting Freemasonry.
Peter: "Paul, if you were a Knight of the Sun, a Grand Inspector Inquisitor Commander, or a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, to what organization would you belong?"
Paul: "The Luxemberg National Guard? I think those strange fellows, the Odd Fellows."
Contestant: "I agree."
Peter: "The Mystic Knights of the Sea. The Masons, a marvelous organization."
